It clearly showed Criminals are at work during disasters !
Looting is always a problem.... after Katrina, in New Orleans, even the Police were looting a Wal Mart. Seems some people just like to take advantage of the situation.

This is what's left of the Airport there... the Tower was totally destroyed.
I am very surprised to see a guitar in the Control Tower.

Do the ATC Staff really work or they are preparing themselves for any Overseas jobs that requires Singing ?

That's what I thought, but then again maybe it was blown up into the tower through the smashed windows?

Lets leave it to the NTSB & NBI to investigate. We can only speculate.

If it is blown thru the smashed windows, this guitar is very Aero-dynamic - Boeing & Airbus better quickly grab it and study its constructions.

Something like an acoustic guitar, made of lightweight wood, with its flat design, would become very aerodynamic in typhoon strength winds. It's possible that it was an item, left behind by a passenger, in the airport. It's objects like this that become very dangerous when they become airborne in the high velocity storm-winds.

              Thursday Update

CKS503 is landing in Cebu from ANC with a load of humanitarian supplies for Tacloban.

CEB is the closest airport capable of landing and off-loading freighters.

The airport at Tacloban has been closed by the Philippine government for jet aircraft that don't have builtin ramps. Turboprop aircraft, helicopters and C130s are all that are allowed. The C130s are shuttling aid from Cebu and taking out folks at the Tacloban airport.

The mayor of Tacloban has advised remaining folks to flee the island with any means at their disposal.

The scenes you read and see online are true, this is a calamity on a grand scale.

There is no fuel for vehicles to distribute food and water and no communications and electricity. Dead bodies everywhere are making the rescue workers sick. Buko juice (coconut water) is everywhere but drinking leads to diarrhea which further dehydrates. Medicines are non-existent and the medical personnel are homeless victims also.

The U.S. and British Navy flotillas are on the way to help but Filipino pride and jealous sovereignty will dictate how much any foreign power can help.

Calamities and suffering are so great here in the Philippines that the other islands not impacted by the disaster are business as usual.

If you have family in Leyte communications are non-existent but keep trying but their cell phones may be low bat or destroyed in the water. If you need to help with money use the reputable NGOs.

We are doing our best to keep you up to date on the ground and in the air.

Don't worry, they are resilient people. Soon they will be their own feet again - from the way they reproduced like rabbits.
