Better read the posts before this more carefully. We HAD 1125 feet, now we have 14525 feet MLAT.

    • Well... 195 MLATs today at 12:30 UTC. Getting close to the 200 mark. Hopefully it gets more lower altitudes aircrafts in the future. Keep up the good work.

Last 2 (two) days I/we have received 3 (three) completely unrelated error reports related to 3 different FR24 receiver issues, who all claims "there are hundreds of people reporting this problem".

This thread is for discussing MLAT on FR24. Once again, if you have a problem with your receiver, send a comprehensive error report to support@fr24.com

Instead of putting the energy on telling us how many hundreds of users have this problem, put the energy on writing a good error description, and let us analyze the problem. That helps a lot. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I know that Amper has done that on 22 Feb, which you refer to as "3 days ago"... thanks again.

        • Is showing the aircraft being "picked up again" by FR24, after it had landed on Schiphol and then departed again.
Since it has the same callsign always, this is possible to happen. I guess nothing can be done against this, if one trail of MLAT is prefered to be displayed on the map.
But for now i consider this a bug report.

We are still working on improving route matching for scheduled traffic. When satisfied we will start improving the data of other flights, but in cases where the aircraft uses same callsign and coverage is bad, it's really hard to distinguish when a flight has landed, so I have no big hope in completely solving this.

              Hi Mike,
Any feedback on this? How are testing going? Need any help from us, feeders?

              • MLAT around Schiphol is recovering again: http://x264.nl/dump/bee7eh-2014-02-2...recovering.jpg
Down to 6000 feet. It appears 4 out of 5 receivers are working near or in between Schiphol and Rotterdam.

Golden tip for the nuclear summit https://www.nss2014.com. A lot of (blocked :P) planes will be landing at EHVB as well. This closed airport will be temporary reopened for this occasion.
With a radar there and 2 near Rotterdam and 2 near Schiphol, laying in between these airports, coverage at EHVB should be optimal!

                Edit:
http://x264.nl/dump/hop3382-2014-02-24-mlat.jpg 1 day ago.... (via playback), posted before.
                And now:
http://x264.nl/dump/klm1264-2014-02-25-mlat.jpg much lower and further, including two mlat following this one from the south.
I also saw EHVB testing on the map, thanks for the efforts!

http://x264.nl/dump/bcy77d-2014-02-25-mlat-a-lot.jpg 8 MLAT aircraft on a very small area.
And note the BCY77D tracked almost down to the runway, 800 feet reported, but it's even lower!

Pffff now i am getting jealous at the Rotterdam (http://www.flightradar24.com/51.99,4.63/10) guys.... 5 receivers calculating MLAT there. They also calculate MLAT near Amsterdam, but it seems our receivers are up higher.

I am glad i kept moaning!

                  Extra:
                  North-East of Schiphol MLAT:

                  North-West of Schiphol MLAT:

Down to about 5000-7000 feet depending direction.

I hope the Radarcape will be able to upload MLAT data to the FR24 servers also.
In the next couple of months i may apply for a second receiver double the height than my current location. If not approved we can always buy a Radarcape.

Having MLAT FL100 or above is easy, the trick is getting it down to the runways!

And the first helicopter after the updates:

MLAT is now just as good, or better than it ever has been around Rotterdam - Schiphol, good job!

                      • Hi all,

Quite nice low MLAT:s seen now here around EFHK. Receiving network is strengthening.

                          • http://x264.nl/dump/bee3jy-2014-02-28-mlat.jpg nicely tracked all the way down to the runway.
Almost ALL aircraft incoming/outgoing at Schiphol are now visible on the website. This week really sets a benchmark. Great working together here!

Still no success with MLAT in Brazil, but we have now shipped another 15 receivers to Brazil, including 2 airports and 4 really good premium locations which should give MLAT in about 3-4 weeks time.

                              • Since 2014-02-28 "[gps][w]No GPS fix/time for more than 120 seconds" never happened again.
Since that day MLAT has been perfect. No idea what you have done, but my GPS led only blinks green now.

So whatever you do, make sure you have 10+ backups of the receiver configuration now!
