  • Premuim version - MLAT and Military display

Have asked previous but had no response.

Is anybody using the premium version of FR24 ?

I believe this includes MLAT and will display military movements?

Is this true and could MODS verify ?

Flightradar24 is trialling it's Multilateration service (Mlat) and, at this time, only those using the Premium website can track Mlat aircraft which may include military traffic.

We will hide most military traffic from MLAT.

Hmm... that's a shame Brian, although I can understand why to some extent. Living not far from a RAAF base with fairly heavy US and Aussie C-17 and C130J traffic use and more (including army aviation such as choppers) it may have been an interesting addition on M-LAT. Can 'see' them down to the 'deck' level since upgrading my setup too.

          Regards,
          Gregg

National airspace authorities permit military aircraft to cease Mode-S transmissions when on operational missions, or on training missions simulating operational profiles.

I've even seen Typhoons that cease Mode-S when in transit to airshows.

So blocking them proactively looks to me like an over-reaction. If they're broadcasting Mode-S they're not on sensitive ops.

Most biz jets, military aircraft, coastguard and government service aircraft. Quite a list of things you're blocking now.

Started making the online list for them. See this thread.

Or they are flying in controlled airspace, they probably need a ModeS transponder. I don't think that neither you or me can decide when a flight is sensitive ops. We already had some issues with both governments and embassy's so we will not take ANY risks of our hobby being regulated or forbidden. We will work WITH authorities not AGAINST them.

98% of the aircraft we block comes from the FAA block list (BARR Program). We will not try to create any conflicts with the FAA or any other national aircraft authority, no matter if you think it's sensitive or not. As mentioned in other threads here on the forum, there are already discussions about encrypting the ADS-B signal, and we don't want to speed up this process because some users thinks that some aircraft movements are not sensitive.

You can read about the BARR Program on

So FR24 taking the FAA ASDI blocked list & BARR program blocked list and Using/Matching it up with the ADS-B data received to block those aircraft/flights. Plus the FAA ASDI data we already knew about.
It was something that hasn't been clearly talked about yet.

BARR Program only applies to FAA ASDI data on those website links you posted
"BARR submissions were managed by NBAA and provided to the FAA and Aircraft Situation Display to Industry (ASDI) venders to block tracking at the appropriate levels."

                    No, just the BARR list.

So you are using the same "BARR List" to block these ADS-B Data aircraft being uploaded from Mode-S receivers around the world from displaying on the FR24 Website/Smartphone Apps, and Play-Back. Plus the FAA ASDI Data feed aircraft/flights.

                      ok
