  • Feeder software beta 30 (230) + Radar View makes it possible see your own coverage

    The feeder software was recently updated to version 230. If you install this version and run Radar View, you can now enable to view your own receiver coverage inside Radar View. To make this work you need to run Radar View at the same network as your receiver (Radar View will get data from both FR24 and your receiver simultaneously). Make sure to check the [x] LOCAL traffic in settings and adjust the IP if you are not running it at the same computer the FR24 Feeding application is running.



    The red colored aircraft are from my own receiver.

    I was coming to the forums to ask if a feature sort of like this existed, so I'm glad I found the post.

    This gives me a general sense of what I'm looking for. I want to know the coverage area of my receiver/antenna, so this gives me a good idea when the planes start to show up on track. I'm getting the red aircraft on my screen, so it works well. However, I'm wondering if your development team might take it even further.

    Because the aircraft send GPS data, we can know precisely when and where the aircraft come into view of a receiver. It would be great to have a true coverage map for my personal station, and the data is there to do it - it just needs to be collected and appropriately processed. Basically, all I want is a map where when a flight from my receiver comes into view, it starts drawing a track. If I let that run for a few days, I'd have a great sense of where I can "see" the aircraft.

    Perhaps a few versions down the line?

      Do you mean something like this?



      This feature will be offered to feeders using FR24 hardware first, and maybe later to other feeders as well.

        You read my mind. Although that overlayed onto a Google Map would be even better.

        Is there actually FR24 hardware? I thought it was all third-party gear. I'm using ADSB# to Flight Radar Server to FR24 Feed...

          To minimize server loads calculation is done on client side, and not server side.
          We will in the beginning only offer this to users of our FR24 receiver http://forum.flightradar24.com/threa...rease-coverage!
          Later we will evaluate if we can do this server side for all feeders.

              Gregg - thanks for the links. The second link (the Google Earth plotter) looks great. I have to play around with it...maybe it needs the true BaseStation feed, not just a fake one from Virtual Radar Server. I'm getting data from VRS to the 3D Plotter, but it just keeps showing a time - no flights...oh well.
