  • Update FR24feed stop upload

    hello,
I have the problem that some updates of the uploader stops the upload until fr24feed is updated and restarted.
Usually no problem, but Im sometimes away from the receiver for several weeks. So no restart or update can be done = everything is running but the upload is blocked.
Can FR24 not do a "silent" update keeping the upload running ?
    thanks.

Are you really sure that it has stopped due to an update? There hasn't been any updates for quite long time. Which version was it that stopped? There has been some improvements made in the last public version as the software stopped on some computers with very very slow internet, but after the latest update none of our test computers with slow/unstable internet has stopped the software.

We know that there is still an issue that "autostart" is not working if there is no internet after the computer has rebooted. Latest public version of the software only makes one try to connect. Next version will try to connect once per minute, so once connection comes up, feed will start.

      Hi, Mike.
no sorry, cant tell you which it was. perhaps I can tell it to you in 2 weeks if Im back in Germany.
David told me that he received an update this weekend and because my upload stopped at Status: Offline Last upload: 2012-07-23 20:34:45 I was expecting that is was that. Its running there XP.
But the same happened here with W7. What I remember that there was a message box at the lower right side asking me to update, but I didnt take care about the version.

I'm experiencing the same problem, when I start the feeder nothing happens, no data upload.

        Cheers

I don't think it's the same problem as Charky reported that software stops if there is an update of the software. If you have problem starting the software it's a completely different problem and I would need a better error description. Does this happen every time? Sometimes? Is there an error message? How do you know it doesn't feed? What happens if you press "start" again? Do you have Basestation/Planeplotter running? What receiver do you have?

It looks like there are 2 types of updates. Important and less important. If there is an important update, the software will not work before an update has been made. This is to force feeders updating ASAP as it was some kind of major issue in the old software. If the software would continue to work some people will just never update. There are also regular updates that are not so important and upload software will continue to work without this update, and the feeder can update when he feels he has time. I can agree that it not so good to stop feeders from remote locations but it's sometime there is a need of doing an update. Right now the software is working quite good and stable and no big changes are planned so I don't think we will send out any important updates. So most updates now will only me less important. I think actually there will be a less important update today that will fix the "not connection after reboot problem" described above and a cache problem that sometimes could duplicate some aircraft.

              Hi,
              restarted today FR24feed after updating.
The message as I arrived was similar to: FR24feed has detected an error and has been stopped.
I made a printscreen but that tells nothing. and then I pressed the wrong button: send to Microsoft and its gone .
I would like to press the detail button, perhaps I find it somewhere in the logs. If I find it I send it.

It has crashed at our office as well, but it looks like it only crashes once, so we could not reproduce the crash.

                  Hi,
sorry to say but this morning around 9.46h it crashed again (last upload time).
This time FR24feed couldnt connect. At 17h MEZ I tried to stop and restart but without result.
Exiting Basestation and Feed, restarting Basestation and Feed and it works again.

This morning we exceeded number of simultaneous feeders with new software for the first time 512, which blocked more connections. This was solved at about 10 o'clock in the morning.

                          Hm, ok.
but why it didnt connect again after the number had been extended ?
