  • New ADSB receiver from Bulgaria - Can it work with flight radar24?

    Hi,

I recently bought an ADSB receiver from a guy in Bulgaria. It is in the form of a memory stick, with an antenna connector on one side and a USB connector the other. It cost me Euro 85 (incl. antenna).

I have nothing to do with the company that makes this. You can contact Miroslav for more information at: miro@mnet.bg.

What I like is the price which is much cheaper than the other ADSB suppliers in the market.

I use this at home and it works well. It comes with software from www.sprut.de called adsbscope.com (http://www.sprut.de/electronic/pic/p...sb/adsb.htm#pc).

It produces standard text frames on port 30003, like this:

    MSG,3,0,0,391558,0,2011/10/19,11:33:12.312,2011/10/19,11:33:12.312,,36975,,,49.9121,6.3444,,,0,0,0,0 MSG,3,0,4,3946E3,4,2011/10/19,11:33:12.968,2011/10/19,11:33:12.968,,34975,,,49.7038,6.0496,,,0,0,0,0 MSG,3,0,0,391558,0,2011/10/19,11:33:12.968,2011/10/19,11:33:12.968,,36975,,,49.9135,6.3474,,,0,0,0,0 MSG,1,0,4,3946E3,4,2011/10/19,11:33:13.328,2011/10/19,11:33:13.328,AFR2552 ,,,,,,,,0,0,0,0 MSG,3,0,0,391558,0,2011/10/19,11:33:13.843,2011/10/19,11:33:13.843,,36975,,,49.9141,6.3485,,,0,0,0,0 MSG,4,0,0,391558,0,2011/10/19,11:33:14.328,2011/10/19,11:33:14.328,,,525,52,,,64,,0,0,0,0 MSG,3,0,4,3946E3,4,2011/10/19,11:33:14.750,2011/10/19,11:33:14.750,,34975,,,49.7072,6.0556,,,0,0,0,0 MSG,3,0,0,391558,0,2011/10/19,11:33:15.515,2011/10/19,11:33:15.515,,36975,,,49.9162,6.3526,,,0,0,0,0 MSG,3,0,4,3946E3,4,2011/10/19,11:33:15.656,2011/10/19,11:33:15.656,,34975,,,49.7090,6.0590,,,0,0,0,0

Will it work with the server software for flightradar24.com? Is this what flightradar24.com needs?

Since looking at port 30003 with IE only gives me text like above, I would like to plot it on a map. Which is why flightradar24.com would be good.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Peter

    Hi
You can try some of these suggestions

The world’s most popular flight tracker. Track planes in real-time on our flight tracker map and get up-to-date flight status & airport information.

And you can ask people with them already.. like me

I'm running one of those and uploading as NZCH1 from here in New Zealand.

Yep, will work fine with the uploader app. And also works with Planeplotter software if you want to put that into trial to try it. I was running PP, but once expired found that ADSBscope did the same logging I required just fine.

I have a java app capturing port 30003 and adding it to a MYSQL database for manipulation and data display (no realtime map) on a local webpage for me to keep an eye on goings on.

The downside of these units is in their construction. They are based on a small chip that has software on it to decode the signal. As a result it can only process 1 at a time. If you are in an area of high data traffic (a lot of planes) it will struggle to keep up and start producing missing data. The larger boxes have dedicated processors that are able to do ~10 streams at once and therefore process the data faster.
Posts not to be taken as official support representation - Just a helpful uploader who tinkers

As Oblivian wrote, it should work. Just send an email to info@flight24.com and you will get the software.

          Hi,
Thanks for the info. Will do so. Am using a small ASUS
          Laptop to do this.
I am in the western part of Germany and traffic is not a major
          Issue here.
          Cheers,
          Peter
Ps: I did email for the software, but nothing yet

Hi Peter, it normally takes about 2-3 days for the software to be E-mailed. ( Speedbird )
