  • Raspberry Pi reports 10k+ positions to FlightAware but no data FR24

    Hey Guys,

    I have had a look around here for some info, but I have not seen anything that looks exactly like my issue.

    I have just changed dongle and upgraded my antenna, after running a small antenna for a week or two to have something to assess my new antenna's capability against. Pretty sure I was reporting position data to FR24, but now it seems like I am not. (Side note, my 67mm length piece of wire sticking up from a ground plate was pulling aircraft data from 130nm).

    I looked at my FR24 stats and I am reporting 0 positions per day for the last 7 days, I am sure I was initially reporting positions, meanwhile I am reporting 10k+ positions per day to FlightAware.

    If I look at:
    apt policy dump1090:
    dump1090:
    Installed: (none)
    Candidate: 3.8.1
    Version table:
    3.8.1 500
    500 http://flightaware.com/adsb/piaware/files/packages buster/piaware armhf Packages
    apt policy dump1090-mutability:
    dump1090-mutability:
    Installed: (none)
    Candidate: 1.15~20180310.4a16df3+dfsg-6
    Version table:
    1.15~20180310.4a16df3+dfsg-6 500
    500 http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian buster/main armhf Packages

    apt policy dump1090-fa:
    dump1090-fa:
    Installed: 3.8.1
    Candidate: 3.8.1
    Version table:
    *** 3.8.1 500
    500 http://flightaware.com/adsb/piaware/files/packages buster/piaware armhf Packages
    100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
    cat /etc/fr24feed.ini:
    receiver="beast-tcp"
    fr24key=XXXXX
    host="127.0.0.1:30002"
    bs="no"
    raw="no"
    logmode="1"
    windowmode="0"
    logpath="/var/log/fr24feed"
    mpx="no"
    mlat="yes"
    mlat-without-gps="yes"
    cat /etc/rbfeeder.ini:
    Tells me there's no such file.

    So do I have the wrong dump1090 installed? I was sure before I investigated that I installed mutability.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Change it to beast-tcp 30005

    30002 will be presenting wrong format

      (1) Strange that you installed dump mutability and it got changed to dump fa. Seems some magic spell on your Pi

      (2) Irrespective you have dump mutability or dump fa, change to beast-tcp port 30005, as advised by Oblivian.
