Keep watching map at regular intervals, you may see a plane.

    Your statements above are conflicting.
If /etc/default/dump1090-fa2 is not there anymore, then how can sudo systemctl status dump1090-fa-2 can show active?
May be the instance started before you removed /etc/default/dump1090-fa2 is still running.
When you reboot Pi, dump1090-fa2 would fail to start.

To confirm, restart dump1090-fa2, and again check status.
    Code:
    sudo systemctl restart dump1090-fa2

    sudo systemctl status dump1090-fa2
The problem was the fact that there were 3 dump1090 instances: dump1090-fa, dump1090-fa2 and dump1090-fa-2.
I ended up removing all and started from scratch. The issue arise from the fact that I have found on the internet a creation of a dump1090-fa2 and a dump1090-fa-2 as well and at first glance these two appeared as the same name to me but they are not. That single hyphen of course makes a lot of difference. Thus when I created the dump1090-fa-2 service I verified that no references of dump1090-fa2 were there but only dump1090-fa-2. My mistake.
At the moment I have the dump1090-fa and the dump1090-fa-2 active. Dump1090-fa2 could not be found using the command "sudo systemctl status dump1090-fa2"

Can you please give link to the internet pages where you found the method to create 2 dump1090-fa and 2 fr24feed?

I have posted method for creating two receivers on one RPi (2 dump1090 and 2 piaware) on this site:

Yes of course... Here you have them:

        https://discussions.flightaware.com/...ivers/33978/15
        https://discussions.flightaware.com/...-uat-978/51587

You can see that one creates a dump1090-fa2 and the other creates the dump1090-fa-2.

Thanks for the link. It is very clear and very well summed up. It is now bookmarked.

          Thanks for providing links.

Both these Flightaware forum threads were created by me.

The first link is to an older thread which was progressive, i.e. developed the project in many steps. I dont recommemd to use it

The second link is to the newer thread, and I created it to make it a clear "How-to". It has only the fiinal method developed in first thread. In this thread I added method to create 2 instances of fr24feed also.

The method I posted at Github is same as the manual method in my final thread (your 2nd link), but provides a bash script to do the job automatically, making life easy. It however installs 2 instances of dump1090-fa (or dump1090-mutability) and 2 instances of piaware data feeder. To install 2 instances of fr24feed, one has to use manual method I have given in Flightaware thread (your 2nd link).

Can't thank you enough for all of your support and help to the ADSB community, been following your posts for some long time.
I really apologize because this issue was created by a mistake from myself.
In that thread I also had some issues altough not the same as this one, improving a bit with the time...
