I have amended to reflect similar. Guess there's less raw Linux users since it's taken this long to be brought up

You can find the Debian version on which your Ubuntu version is based in the file: /etc/debian_version

    Ubuntu_Based_on_Debian.png . Ubuntu_18.04_FR24FEED.png

    From 10.04 up to 18.04:
    Code:
       Ubuntu | Debian
    18.04 bionic buster / sid - 10
    17.10 artful stretch / sid - 9
    17.04 zesty stretch / sid
    16.10 yakkety stretch / sid
    16.04 xenial stretch / sid
    15.10 wily jessie / sid - 8
    15.04 vivid jessie / sid
    14.10 utopic jessie / sid
    14.04 trusty jessie / sid

Seems to still work on Stretch? or are we not talking raspian edition.

Dont believe this is a legacy update version of feeder

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ cat /etc/os-release
    PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)"
    NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux"

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo fr24feed-status
    [ ok ] FR24 Feeder/Decoder Process: running.
    [ ok ] FR24 Stats Timestamp:.
[FAIL] FR24 Link: unknown ... failed!
    [FAIL] Receiver: down ... failed!
[FAIL] FR24 MLAT: not running ... failed!
    pi@raspberrypi:~ $

    and sudo fr24feed --status

    just launches it. 0.o confused

Only if they changed the code between versions and didn't update everyone. The how to feed site still points to an old thread with it here for help as far as I know.

There was a stage between major os versions where the status command didn't give line by line output but too detailed cpu usage. So users made their own version.

So depending on the os version it may differ. Shall check and ammend when I return home if now different

It was even included in the package

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ dpkg-query -L fr24feed
    /etc/udev/rules.d/rtl-sdr.rules
    /etc/systemd/system/fr24feed.service
    /etc/cron.d/fr24feed_updater
    /etc/fr24feed.ini
    /usr/bin/fr24feed-status
    /usr/bin/fr24feed
    /usr/lib/fr24
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/coolclock
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/coolclock/excanvas.js
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/coolclock/coolclock.js
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/coolclock/moreskins.js
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/options.js
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/gmap.html
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/config.js
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/script.js
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/style.css
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/planeObject.js
    /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/extension.js
    /usr/lib/fr24/fr24feed_updater.sh
    /usr/lib/fr24/install_dump1090.sh
