I go abroad for maybe 3 months at a time, but I leave my RPi running. I set up a cron command to reboot every half past midnight in case of glitches while I am away. Result 95% coverage and constant Business membership and I can watch traffic in the Philippines and Far East alll the time. Simples!

    Brian,

That's a pretty good suggestion. Thanks! Let me look into it.

    Khan,
    Thanks for answering his question.
Great info that should be added to the FAQ share your data page.

When I go on vacation, which I do several times a year, I shut down my home PC.

Almost as soon as I stop feeding FR24, my account drops from "Business" to "Gold" - after 7 days, it drops to nothing.

Oddly enough, when I'm away from home (and not feeding FR24), that's when I'm at a distant airport and really need FR24 coverage.

Please give your supporters a break and allow them to go on vacation for a couple of weeks without penalising them.

    Thanks
    Simon
    Simon,

When you are going on vacation, just inform support and your subscription will manually be extended till you are back.

Please don't attack another FR24 user.

I didn't do anything to you to get that abuse from you.

OK Brian, you've had your 15 minutes of fame.

Perhaps we should let FR24 respond to Simon's not unreasonable request.

Off you go then. What others do you recommend?

The OP was talking about losing his FR24 Business account when he's away on vacation. I proposed a low cost, low maintenance back-up that could maintain Simon's feed while he's away, assuming FR24 isn't agreeable to extending the "off-line" time.

I'll let others decide if the Radarcape is a viable alternative.

Flightradar24 does promote the radarcape product.

    Read and ye shall find.

Why pay 800 Euros for a "back-up" alternative when one can achieve the same result, an on-going FR24 Business account, for a fraction of the cost?

Or are you hi-jacking this thread to promote the Radarcape?

Why are we talking about cost of things?

At 15 times the cost of a DVB-T/RPi combination. Hardly low cost.
