  • RPI FR24 Troubleshooting

    Hi all,

We've installed FR24 on a RPI following the instructions and using the PI24 image file.

The antenna is outside and about 6ft from a single storey building.

We live about 15 miles from East Midlands Airport.

    The status shows as:

    FR24 Link: Connected via UDP
    FR24 Radar Code: T-EGNX126
    Aircraft Tracked (ModeS & ADS-B): 0
    Aircraft Uploaded: N/A
    Receiver: dvbt, Connected
    MLAT running: NO

Please can someone advise some basic troubleshooting we should carry out?

    Thanks

    Check the logs

    tail -f /var/log/fr24feed.log

This will provide some indication as to what's going on.

These pings suggest that no data is being received which is strange based on your explanation of antenna position and location.

        Nothing. Leave it on auto/dvbt

What we need to see is the first lines during start where the stick is detected

I'm going on a limb and guessing it's a fitpower tuner chip with that rtl chip which won't do 1090 mhZ

Per Linux page in above thread

            Sudo service fr24feed stop
            Sudo fr24feed start

              Give command
              sudo lsusb

              And post the output

There are a number of chinese stores doing that as they realise people won't send them back due to the extra costs so win.

                      RTL2832+R820T best bet

Mine was described as "USB 2.0 TV Tuner Stick Receiver RTL2832U R820T DVB-T RTL-SDR+DAB+FM Digital UK"

If you look at the same item on eBay now it is described as "USB 2.0 TV Tuner Stick Receiver RTL2832U FC0012 DVB-T RTL-SDR+DAB+FM Digital UK"
