The airplane information shown on FR24 is not transmitted by the airplane.
The information comes from a giant database that has been built up manually during 5 years time.
It's based on the unique Hex/ModeS code that is transmitted by the airplane.

Every day there are new deliveries and old aircraft getting new owners, so new information have to be added into database daily.

Help us updating the database by posting the Hex/ModeS code together with aircraft information in this thread.
The format that will make it quick and easy for us to update the database is:

Its becoming very evident that information being posted to this forum is simply being ignored.
You cannot ask people to contribute this information and then do nothing with it.

I have mentioned my concerns about the lack of updating to support and have been assured that they
are working on this issue, yet I can find many posts over 3 months old.

Clearly this process of updating is not working, I have no idea how the information is added or the basis
for deciding what priorities are given to different posts/aircraft or any other category.

Feedback other than snide remarks from one person in particular is missing, if you are not happy with the
way information is being posted take the time to re-post guidelines explaining just what the requirements
are. Remarks such as "copying is easy" are pointless and immature only deter others from contributing.

Perhaps it is now time to take action and address the problems that currently exist with the way this
whole process is run. If you want the information to be added to your database then ensure that it is
added within a reasonable period. On the other hand if you don't want members to add this information
                            then say so.

I've not contributed data to any of the FR24 databases in the belief that the information is actually sourced by FR24 from external providers and I seem to recall reading on the forums some time ago that that is in fact the case. Anybody who uses FR24 has a vested interest in the accuracy of the data we see on our screens and it is clear that some users have made a concerted effort over time to contribute new knowledge via threads such as this one. Therefore these users deserve to be told if in fact their data is being used because otherwise they are just wasting their time. If the data is not being used then these sticky threads ought to closed down forthwith.

Anybody who has used FR24 for a bit will know that there are a lot of data errors but this is also the case with one of FR24's main competitors, Flight Aware, who are themselves one of the commercial aggregators of this sort of information.

I think you are right to have raised this issue and it deserves a definitive reply from FR24.
