Anyone else think people are straying way off track reporting errors..

Better to stick to the facts. Short and accurate. Don't give too big a back story (or attempt to explain in google translate if english is not 2nd nature) as this can be read different ways and potentially add to confusion/errors

if there is one thing to include ALWAYS, it is hex code. Always always.

It is a primary key in the database. Everything requires one

Yes, miscodes occur, and noone can fix those without the appropriate country taking action on their own records. But reporting them incorrectly (as a new addition or change) or with a story can create 2 bad mixed records from one error

Better to investigate and report "hex code duplicated on records, reg x and reg y"

That does beg the question why the database doesn't spit an error.. but I guess it's for keeping good historic lookup records.

Sorry I cant use an American Hex. On a Swaziland Regn. ...When an aircraft changes Owner in another land. The Hex and Regn. change also,.

He is explaining African Registrations can NOT use american HEX codes - either your source is wrong or the local aviation authority needs to recode the transponder so the database can match the region to the ZS- range. Or they are illegally duplicating a pre assigned US based transponder.

If you applied that same "rule" to the Central and South American countries there would be nothing from those areas in the database...

Looking at the hex A7D937 it appears not to have been used by the Cessna nightmare C162 since October last year, hopefully that have stopped flying it before the wings fall off...

There are plenty of miscodes in the DB already and as Tyke has said the South Americans are experts at it, but it happens all over the world.

Common sense would say allocate it to the 172 it will be around longer than the 162

Or if commons sense doesn't come in to it at least complete all the details in the DB for the C162 not just have the MSN and production year listed....
