Data errors in Flightradar24 aircraft database

OK, so photos are from Jetphoto, based on the Registration.

But from which database does the label come from that appears below the photo, and the Owner Info e.g SIA211 Singapore Airlines.

Is it based on the Registration, or the IATA 24 id ?

Mike, what exact info are you referring to? Do you mean the aircraft details such as reg, type, msn, owner/operator?

When the plane's transponder "ping" (aka hex code/ICAO-24 address) is picked up by a receiver the only identifying marks are the ICAO-24 address and the callsign if the pilot has keyed one into the FMC (the vast majority of non-airliners do not). The plane does not transmit any reg info or frame info. Some countries have a fixed pattern for the ICAO-24 addresses such as the USA so FR24 uses an algorithm to automatically append the N reg to those ones when picked up, but most others around the world require someone (such as myself) to identify the plane's reg and frame details and post it here for the database editors to append to the hex code so that it shows on the map with the full frame and reg info rather than just a random 6 char hex code with no other details.

Callsign [and hex code] data are sent from the aircraft transponder. If there is no callsign keyed in by the aircrew, then that's what will appear on the map!

There is no correlation between ATC radio callsign and transponder callsign unless the crew have remembered [or bothered] to update the transponder accordingly.

Icon is derived from the ICAO type code. I don't know if they're in the database, but this is what they should be...

The reply by 40612 in #3906 is correct. The site isn't geared up to use it like you want. Searching by callsign generally works ok for airliner flight numbers (the ticket number, rather than the ATC callsign, as you can't search alpha-numerical callsigns) but for private flights and fixed callsigns like those choppers you're not going to have much success. Given the site's penchant for blocking everything that isn't a scheduled pax airliner I'm surprised you can see them on the map at all!
