When the plane's transponder "ping" (aka hex code/ICAO-24 address) is picked up by a receiver the only identifying marks are the ICAO-24 address and the callsign if the pilot has keyed one into the FMC (the vast majority of non-airliners do not). The plane does not transmit any reg info or frame info. Some countries have a fixed pattern for the ICAO-24 addresses such as the USA so FR24 uses an algorithm to automatically append the N reg to those ones when picked up, but most others around the world require someone (such as myself) to identify the plane's reg and frame details and post it here for the database editors to append to the hex code so that it shows on the map with the full frame and reg info rather than just a random 6 char hex code with no other details.
