        Computer message

        Hi delcomp

You will hear small compact digital sounds coming in with variuos
        smaller or bigger silent periods
You need to connect the scanner to your computer sound-card
and put a decoder program on the computer
and you will have these small text messages
and here is another link to decoder programs (above is other)

Audio out from the bearcat (e.g. headphone jack) --> double ended male cable ---> audio-in port on your computer.

            Hi,
and if you have two receivers you can watch ACARS on two channels at the same time (left and right channel). I am using acarsd and it works fine for some 100km. And you get pictures of the planes. The only thing I am missing are position reports, There are not a lot.
But, the reception is not allowed in all countries, because ADS-B is send to everyone the airband might be a protected band.

ps: if somebody likes to look a bit into the traffic over greece: http://www.sv1lh.net:8080/

                Hi,
no problem at all. Works fine here.
Connect Antenna, connect sound output from SBS1er to PC sound input. At the SBS switch radio on and to airband/AM. Put in the frequency (f.ex.131,725). Connect internet to PC. Run Acarsd. Setup home position. Correct the input level at PC if needed.
                Thats all.

Chalky, what do you mean by two channels. Do you mean two different ACARS frequencies?
i can't find any reference to ACARS transmissions from a single aircraft being split into different channels.
Or perhaps do you mean downlink and uplink?

                              Hi,
yes 2 different frequencies. And a/c (the same plane) is using on its way from Amsterdam to Rome several frequencies. In the plane it works a bit like a scanner; perhaps during one session using Frankfurt and Munich or Brussels. Mode 2 is sending to any ground station which is available (not busy) on any frequency.
In this radios there are algo's built-in to select automated the best ground station.
