Usually, all forums are oriented on some deep topic but spammers are too stupid to dig deeper and take part in discussions and be a useful part of community, that's why they are copypasting random words

Likelyhood of it being a home user and not something creating accounts all over the joint in a short space of time are very slim.

I've used StopForumSpam on a forum for 9 years. As you say, "stops them dead".

But it has to be used carefully, checking more than one data element when necessary. Some of which are not available to FR24 forum members.

I accidentally added the 's' at end of stop. As in wishing it did stop them dead - Cause it doesn't seem to I do more manually than it captures it seems.

Resorted to opening my own API key and submitting them as the report post method doesn't appear to. Nor is it catching regular IPs you can find using serarch. But also doesn't appear to be setup to block editing of signature/homepage for less than x posts like it can do. Thats the primary target for the non bot created ones.

Some years ago I tried blocking ranges of IP numbers, it wasn't hard to work out where most of the spam posters would appear from, but eventually that didn't work.

Disabling the homepage and profile field for <5 posts wood be a start. But apparently hard. Just like fixing spam-o-matic or adding the zbblock that knows the IP masking sources and prevents them
