  • Unseen overflight; disappointment.

AN124-100 Reg RA82079 Volga Dnepr Airlines Flight VDA6374 overflew Torbay going West at 17.45 BST. Fairly clear sky but passed totally unseen despite keen lookout. No details of origin or destination as is happening with many FR24 plots lately.

    Hi Tony.

Volga Dnepr Airlines do not have scheduled Routes, they are cargo flights.
You should see an improvement in Route matching in the near future as there will be a Server Update tomorrow.

      Hi Speedbird,
Didn't think they were regular that's why I was very disappointed not being able to see it in a fairly clear sky.
P.S. It had gone off radar within 20 minutes - where did it go?
      Regards, Tony.

If you look at the Playback on this page: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/airplanes/ra-82079 you will see that it started plotting on the map over Latvia and dropped off the map once the coverage was lost.

You should be able to see it on FAA Data (Orange Aircraft Icon.) in about an hour, my guess is its going to South America judging by its track.

Regarding visibility and coverage, please read http://www.flightradar24.com/how-it-works
Regarding route, our statistics shows that number of shown routes increases every week. Route is NOT transmitted from the aircraft, but matched from airline timetables. Most cargo airlines does not have any timetables so schedules/routes/destinations are almost impossible to get.
