Hii Bret. Thx. It look scary - to see the planes - when they have to start over the city. We had a Korean Cargo 747 - comming in - that had to do a go-around -bc they said it was unstable - and there was trafic over Oeresund - so it had to make the go-around over the city - and i saw the plane - VERY low - trying to climb - doing the turn - from my office window. Had the feeling that I almost was able to see the colour of the pilots shirts. /Ove

    Think 2800m is enough

Hello Ove, i think 2800m is enough for takeoff on runway 12/30 When there is a strong/stormy wind from the west/northwest (270-315 degrees) the TODR (takeoff distance required) will decrease Also a higher then normal takeoff flapsetting will help (for example 20 degrees) to reduce the TODR however, airborne climb performances may be compromised due to an increase in drag, which reduces the lift-drag ratio and results in a reduced rate of climb performance The total fuel (weight) looks me also very important (an '747 cargoflight' from Copenhagen to Singapore is critical i think (from Rwy30) That asks an excact calculation.. /Bert

    CPH runway 12/30

CPH - runway 12/30 - It's really impressive when winds come from that 'strage' direction 2% of the year - so CPH have to use the 'short'12/30 for landng. This week i noticed on FR24 that a 'heavy' Korean Cargo 747 had to use 12/30 - and it's only 2.800 meter - but there was Airbus 340 and 330 doing the same. Seen them coming in - live - in a freak storm - along the Őresundsbridge - to land on 12/30 - it look pretty scary - but those heavies on 2.800 meter !! - seems like a short runway. Seen 340 and 330 take off on 12/30 once - and it look like it was close to tailstrike every time they had to take off - over Copenhagen. Is 2.800 meter too short for heavy 747 and fully loaded 340 and 330 going transatlantic - or does it just take good pilots to do it ? /Ove
