    Mystery 747 at KSAN

I was just at a friend’s condo that overlooks the KSAN runway, and we watched an unmarked, all white 747 land. This is very unusual at KSAN - BA used to fly a 747 in from London, but switched to a 777, so I haven’t seen a 747 here in years.

Pulling up FR24, I could see it arrived from London Stanstead, but only by following the track backwards to its origin. The plane info itself was blank - no registration data, flight history, nothing. Looking more closely I realized it had no windows on the lower deck, but did seem to have windows on the upper deck.

I pulled up liveATC in time to hear the ground controller address it as “Dubai (four?)” as it taxied over to the general aviation pad. Then it disappeared from FR24, and I didn’t hear anything else from ATC.

I’d love if someone could point me to a way to figure out what this plane is, and what it’s doing in SD.
    Thanks

There's a few of them being repositioned and doing legs to keep certification current. Despite them being parked since covid.

If there's a big horse race shortly. It'll explain it.

    /Edit and there is. A6-ggp

The Breeders Cup will take place at the Del Mar racetrack next weekend, so that seems very likely the answer. Thanks

The reason you couldn't see it on FR24, is that all of the Dubai Air wing aircraft are on the FR24 'Blocked' list where certain [mainly executive jet and VIP aircraft owners] have got the commercial tracking sites to 'block' their aircraft [normally under threat of legal action] so they do not appear.

and just for info, the airport you referred to is called London-Stansted
