  • Jetstar’s first 787 touches down

    Jetstar’s first 787 has touched down in Melbourne this afternoon at the end of its delivery flight from Boeing’s Everrett factory.
    The 787-8, registered VH-VKA and operating as flight JQ7878, touched down at Melbourne Airport shortly after 1pm local time.
    More details to come later this afternoon.

    The above link has now been updated to include further information

    I would have liked to have posted more links but it seems that none of the mainstream news outlets care (yet) about the 787.

    here we go;

    Who want to care about a problematic aircraft. Even the manufacturer's long established customer went to buy from the competitor.
    F-WSSS1 - Cats refused to Pee & Pooh on RadarBox - Running a FR24 Receiver & DVB-T Dongle 24/7 to piss off The Chief Thief.

        Talking of which, Thomsons first 787 G-TUIA flew from CUN to EMA on the 3rd, then did a gentle flight to STN later ... and has remained there.

        Someone on PPRUNE did mention a DreamLiner at EMA with someone in a tall cherry picker inspecting the tail ... lets put 2 + 2 together...

            Apparently to get the crew rest areas fitted (above the passenger cabin) - Takes a few days, apparently this will also be done to the other TUI-Travel 787s this month.

            Pictures of 787 rest areas can be found here

              Perhaps you're right Birdie, even Jetstar havent shown a lot of enthusiasm for the arrival of the 787. Although I've recently finished reading 'QF32' and that was an Airbus A380 which encountered an uncontained engine explosion. They are all capable of experiencing problems.

              The following is on their (Jetstar) own webpage, and it's about ALL they have;

              Their fleet isnt updated and you can find a seatmap for every aircraft- except the 787;

              Good going Qantas/Jetstar

              Regards,
              Gregg

                Dreamliner VH-VKA is currently in flight over NSW doing a trip from Cairns to Melbourne as Flight JST1608 and it appears there will be a later flight today from Melbourne to Gold Coast departing MEL around 5.45pm. These do not appear to be revenue flights as they do not show up on Jetstar's booking system.

                  Nope, they will be part of the 'tour' for JST staff to familiarise and show off to other offices/staff
