  • Recycling

A Friend of a friend works at Cotswold Airport and a chance meeting with this Lady was very interesting , the conversation providing interesting information regarding the recycling operations taking place there. Aircraft of all types are broken up , and many extremely valuble parts recovered and stored , items such as engines , hydraulics , avionics , wheels ,tyres braking systems and even seats and complete Galleys are removed from the Airframes very carefully depending on condition , cleaned up and who knows may be part of the Aircraft that will take you to Tenerife or Cyprus on your Hollidays.
The recycling of parts in this way is of course to be commended , and must give great satisfaction to the staff at what used to be R A F Kemble I would imagine operating one of the 360 Excavators tearing a B747 into bite size pieces must also be a great way to spend your time, even if it is a bit sad seeing these once majestic flying machines die in such a savage way , but no room for sentiment , I wonder if they do tours.
