  • Not all SR-22 aircraft have ADS-B, VH-FYF is Mode-S only, while VH-CSW has ADS-B.

N802DK visited Wagga around the 5th-6th March, though didn't get to photograph it.

Seems that the parachute is unique to Cirrus aircraft.

Holy smokes it comes out from out of nowhere - about 23:22 UTC

Looks like AWE432 was on the exact same path in opposite direction, both at 33,000 feet!

And judging from the direction and other traffic, there is no way AWE432 should have been at an odd flight level. What could have happened?

        • Plane overshoots runway at Bankstown Airport

A light plane pilot has escaped serious injury after it overshot the runway at Bankstown Airport (General Aviation airport west of Sydney).
It's understood the single-engine Diamond aircraft ran off the runway and crashed into a fence on the south-west side of the airport, around 9.30am.
The plane does appear to have any significant damage.

              • Darwin flights cancelled after volcanic eruption in Indonesia sends ash plume south

The majority of flights in and out of Darwin have been cancelled today because of a volcanic eruption in Indonesia.
A spokesperson for Darwin Airport says all international and domestic Jetstar services, and all domestic Virgin and Qantas flights have been cancelled.
The Sangeang Api volcano, which is located off the north east coast of Sumbawa island, erupted yesterday evening.
The Bureau of Meteorology says it has caused a volcanic ash cloud that is moving in a south-easterly direction, affecting the Kimberley and Top End.
A spokesperson for the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre says the ash is moving further south and dispersing.

Gee those are fantastic photos - I've heard about the flying saucer effect but never seen a good picture of it. BTW - a well deserved win by NSW on Wednesday night from a card carrying cane toad!

                  • "Darwin remains cut off to all air services until Sunday, and flights from Australia to Bali are now affected, as three separate ash plumes billow from an Indonesian volcano.

The Sangeang Api volcano off the Indonesian island of Sumbawa is now erupting continuously after an initial blast on Friday afternoon, the Bureau of Meteorology's Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre in Darwin said on Friday.

                    • Darwin flights resume as volcanic ash plume from Sangeang Api in Indonesia disperses

Thousands of passengers have begun their journey home from Darwin after a volcanic ash cloud over the Top End grounded planes yesterday.
Flights in and out of Darwin airport resumed this afternoon after the Sangeang Api volcano, located off the north-east coast of Sumbawa, began erupting on Friday night.
The plume of ash spread over the Kimberley and the Top End forcing airlines to cancel most flights in and out of Darwin on Saturday and early Sunday.
Thirty-one flights were cancelled, creating a backlog of thousands of people. Jetstar says about 2,000 of their customers were affected.

                      • Indonesia volcanic ash cloud drifts towards Bali, causes more flight cancellations

People planning to travel to and from Indonesia are being urged to keep in touch with their airlines as an ash cloud from an erupting volcano drifts towards Denpasar.
The Sangeang Api volcano erupted on Friday, creating ash clouds that brought air services in the region to a standstill.
Flights in and out of Darwin resumed yesterday afternoon, but Jetstar has announced it has now been forced to cancel flights in and out of Bali.

                          • I got a notification earlier of a plane squawking 7700 from Belfast. ABR419J. The flight turned and headed to Cork to make a (emergency?) landing. Anyone with any info as to what happened? Here is the playback just before the turn and change in squawk.
