  • US airlines timetables vs European airlines

    Hello!

I have a question regarding timetables.

Airlines in the USA often have departure and arrival times like 10.03 and 11.17. European airlines on the other hand "always" have departure and arrival times like 10.00 and 11.15. Why has airlines in the USA minute specific schedules and sometimes even European airlines when flying in the US? Due to slots?

    Thanks,

I wonder what percentage of all published departure and arrival times are achieved? Or even achievable?

At the end of the day these are the times that travellers must use, to be sure to be checked in and at the gate and not denied boarding.

And what looks and can be remembered better? 10:03 or 10:00?

    It's all "for show".
    Mike

Not to mention fiddled to meet airline 'on-time' statistics.

Delayed? Re-log your flight plan departure time. Hit the new time - That's a target statistic. Nevermind it was meant to be earlier

I've noticed this too. I've been booking flights for a trip to Japan, and the Japanese flights also tend to be scheduled for 15 minute ranges, rather than how the US tries to be exact. Strange.
