Aircraft contrails........

  • Taken with my Canon SX50, cropped and zoomed in.
    The original image was taken with 50 x optical zoom, I find the digital zoom function doesn't help.

    • Thanks. Was that hand held or tripod mounted? Optical or digital zoom? And did you take multiple shots and delete ones either side?

      • I find a tripod really helps and this particular flight was right over head so had to remove the camera from the tripod. I take loads of shots and then pick the best one.
        I set the camera to TV, ISO 100 and then vary the shutter speed from 1/500 to 1/640 depending on the conditions and 50 x optical zoom.

        • Not a contrail image, height was approx 20,000ft having departed from LHR.
          50x optical zoom, cropped and enlarged.
          The original image needs to be as pin sharp as possible as any imperfections will be enhanced as you increase the size of the image.
