    Yara & yktn

    Neighbours

I notice that both of your feeds to FR24 include Squawk codes, mine (YPAD3) does not !

If you are using SBS Basestation software are you willing or able to help me sort out why this is not working.

Apologies everyone for posting this here but I don't know the forum names to contact via PM.

    Regards

    Sean.

I don't think there is an option of turning squawks on or off. From what i have read the squawk is only transmitted on request from ATC. So most times the Squawk is just empty. If your receiver is "lucky" to receive the squawk code, it will be uploaded to FR24, in other way it will remain empty.

    Thanks for replying Mike,

I have checked all settings in BS software and couldn't find anything obvious that would make a difference, however I notice that the majority of other traffic and especially those of my neighbours YKTN & YARA all seem to have Squawk codes and I very rarely get them ?
Maybe I'm just "unlucky" in the Squawk dept.

Have you got Ignore Non-ADS-B Messages checked? Data Settings, SBS-1 tab.

I have noticed that Squawk is often missing over Sweden (less traffic), but often visible over central Europe (more traffic), so it could have a connection with how often ATC "askes" the transponder for Squawk.

Thanks Mike, If I get a chance today I'll listen to ATC and if a squawk request is made I can check to see if displayed in BS flight info panel.

I think that the request is made automatically by radar/computer.
