Fighter Jets over my house

Today at around 11-00 am to 12pm i heard fighter jets 4 times over my house, i live in Wolverhampton close to RAF base cosford but I'm sure it wasn't them cos they would have been so low. The first time i saw the three in formation at about 45000 feet then few minutes later i heard them again , then after another 5 minutes i saw them again. any one know what it is about?

A wild guess is Farnborough Airshow. It's starting up today and no doubt the RAF will be showing up to join the party during the week.
