thank you for your help. but whatever i do there is no signal when the gadget is connected to an outside antenna. so i will try to get a good usb extension and then i'll see what happens. i am going to talk about my experiences here in the forum when i know about. may take some time

btw i am looking for a nice radarmap for southern germany more or less centered around the EDDN area which can be used directly with pp. i tried to create my own maps but things for whatever reasons went wrong. anyone who knows about such maps?

What type of outside antenna are you using? Is is for 1090?

What type of radar map do you want? Most use outlines, such as this:

I use the wimo antenna as outside antenna, cable length is 8 meters (ecoflex). The screen you attached is the one i am thinking of. can such maps be obtained for southern germany for immediate use with pp?

    Thanks Herbert

I too have a Wimo GP1090 with masthead preamp. I find it can be too much for the PlaneGadget receiver.

Sometimes it causes the USB connection to drop out and I also get an error message Error Setting Comm State.

You could try starting off using the supplied antenna and then when you have a signal, swap to the GP1090?

Also reduce the Secondary Gain to 20 and see if that improves?

I have to test this again more times to see if I can get a stable setting using the GP1090. The PlaneGadget is tuned to the supplied antenna and using an external one will need some adjustments.

As for the Outlines, I have a Planeplotter- Getting Started Guide available on Radarspotters.

    http://radarspotters.eu/forum/index.....html#msg11901

This explains how to use Outlines in PP. You may have to download airports and navaids for Germany and links for these are also on Radarspotters:

    Hy,

I had also some problems with the usb port.

There is a tool from microsoft : devcon

With this you can deactivate and activate ports.

This solves my problems., I restart pc every night and deacticate / activate port.
