What is WebTrak?
WebTrak provides replay of aircraft operations around the immediate area of the airport for the general public. WebTrak is capable of showing both recent and past aircraft operations around the airport. It shows the path taken by aircraft and as much information about them as is permissible.

A cargo plane belonging to United Parcel Service (UPS), the US-based delivery company, has crashed near the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai in an unpopulated desert area of a UAE military base, leaving its two crew members dead, officials say.

The accident occured just after the plane took off from Dubai airport as the crew attempted to make an emergency landing.

There were reports that the aircraft's cockpit had caught fire before the crash on Friday.

Saif al-Suwaidi, the general manager of the country's civil aviation authority, told local media agencies: "The pilot reported fire and smoke in the cockpit and was instructed to return to Dubai.

"After failing to land at the airport, the plane disappeared from radar screens and was found later [at the crash site]."

The official news agency Wam, quoting aviation officials, reported that the "bodies of two pilots'' had been found at the scene.

Al Jazeera's Dan Nolan, reporting from just outside the site of the crash, said: "I can see a large plume of thick smoke in the distance, there is certainly a big fire.

"The Boeing 747 was it was on its way to Cologne in Germany, but we understand there was problem with the plane."

Ismail al-Baroushi, a spokesman for the aviation authority, said an investigation into the accident was under way, but it was "too early to speculate" on the cause of the crash.

A spokesman for the US transportation safety board has said the agency will send a team of experts to Dubai to assist with the investigation.

Hello,

Love the site by the way,

My question is about routes, in particular trans atlantic ones.

I live in the North West of Scotland and I notice that we go through periods were seemingly most of the traffic goes this way and like at the present, nothing what so ever goes our way.

This last barren spell has lasted for some weeks. Today for example is a beautiful day, without a cloud in the sky. Yet I haven't seen a single thing in the endless blue sky. All confirmed by flightradar24

What causes this? - weather springs to my mind but the spells at least as I as a mere lay observer can see don't match changes in weather.

Are these spells known in advance or is it very much day to day for the route setters?

Thanks

Jonathan

With the disappointing news of continental pulling out of Bristol now behind the airports governing body, it now seems that a deal has been made with Brussels Airlines. As a result of a codeshare agreement between Continental Airlines and Brussels Airlines, passengers can now travel to Newark from Bristol via brussels. This means passengers will in fact have to fly the opposite direction to connect with Newark.

My question is, well at the moment Brussels Airlines operate a BAE Systems Avro 146-RJ85 out of Bristol to Brussels. With all the passengers who will want to connect to Newark via Brussels from Bristol surely they will need to increase capacity, if they do so what aircraft are we likely to see being operated by Brussel Airlines in and out of bristol?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
